Volunteer today!

Volunteering is a fantastic way to meet new people whilst learning lifesaving skills. We would love to hear from you if you enjoy teaching young people and working in a team.

What is NHS Cadets?

The NHS Cadets Programme aims to create the next generation of healthcare volunteers. We are helping to transform the lives of young people who are from communities currently under-represented within the NHS and St John Ambulance.

We aim to reach a diverse range of young people who have barriers to entering health volunteering or a healthcare career.  It is aimed at young people aged 14 to 18, and we aim to support them as they take their first steps.

For me, the most interesting aspect was meeting new people and learning about aspects of the NHS that I would not have learned about in school.

How you can help

Members of our Project Teams create safe, inclusive and open environments where young people can prepare for roles in volunteering. They make sessions engaging for young people and bring the programme to life. Project Teams plan and deliver sessions, and support young people as they develop life skills and gain further experience in healthcare.

Young people feel they are in a safe, comfortable and healthy environment

100% of Cadets feel everyone treats each other with respect
